Mukhya Mantri Bal Suposhan Yojana aims to emphasize upon 1,000-day window of child-birth, pre & post-delivery support to mothers to reduce malnutrition among children. This scheme will touch the lives of more than 4 lakh children in the age group of 6 months to 6 years, more than 5 lakhs children of 6 years to 10 years, more than 3 lakh adolescent girls, and 94000 pregnant & lactating mothers. Additional protein-enriched food will be provided to children under 6 years, with a special focus on malnourished children and high-risk pregnant women in a decentralized manner. To empower local women economically, the option of procurement of food items will be explored through Self Help Groups.

The scheme not only targets children, pregnant and lactating women but also reaches out to community members, husbands and family members by involving them by virtue of incentives for the family of anemic pregnant women, service delivery & monitoring of services.

The scheme envisages that the need of the hour today is to make it a people’s movement in letter and spirit, placing the beneficiaries at the heart of health & nutrition programmes and encouraging community participation and making it Jan Andolan.
