Benefits
- The scholarship amount is ₹2500 per month for boys and ₹3000 per month for girls.
- The scholarship amount is paid annually to the selected students for a period of one to five years as per the duration of the courses approved by the concerned regulatory bodies.
- A total number of 5500 (2750 Boys and 2750 Girls) wards/widows of ex-servicemen are selected for a scholarship each academic year.
Eligibility
- The applicant should be a student admitted in 1st year (except Lateral Entry & Integrated Course).
- The applicant should have scored 60% and above in Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2 / Diploma / Graduation. The MEQ for entry to various professional courses varies according to the course opted for. - The applicant should be a dependent ward/widow of ex-Servicemen or ex-Coast Guard personnel.
Exclusions
- Wards of Civilians including Para Military Personnel are not eligible.
- Only two wards of an ex-serviceman are eligible for this scholarship scheme.
- Student studying abroad as well as distance learning case is not eligible for PMSS.
Application Process
Documents Required
- Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Coast Guard Certificate duly filled up and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard HQ as per Annexure-1
- Bonafide Certificate duly filled up correctly and signed by Vice Chancellor / Principal/ Vice Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director of the Institute/College as per Annexure-2.
- Certificate from his/her bank stating that the Aadhaar Card of the student linked with his / her bank account number as per Annexure-3.
- Matriculation Certificate for verifying the Date of Birth.
- Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate as applicable. (10+2 Mark sheet / Graduation (mark sheets of 3 years) / Diploma (mark sheets of all semesters).
- 1st page of the Bank Pass Book (preferably PNB/SBI only) clearly showing the name and A/c Number of the Student and the IFS code of the bank.
- Aadhaar Card of Student.
- PPO/ESM Identity Card for Category 6 and the following supporting documents in case of Category 1 to 5.

Who can apply for PMSS?
The dependent wards of Ex Servicemen / Ex Coast Guard personnel and their widows (below officer rank only) who are studying in higher technical and professional degree courses can apply for PMSS.
How to Apply For Scholarship?
Application to be filled ONLINE by visiting the KSB website www.ksb.gov.in. For easy understanding, a flow chart is available on the KSB website under the PMSS link ‘How to Apply for Scholarship’.
How long will I get scholarship?
The scholarship is awarded for the entire duration of the course except the internship.
If I fail in any subject /semester/academic year, can I get scholarship even if I clear my subject in subsequent attempts?
No. All subjects/ semesters/ academic years have to be cleared in the first attempt only.
Is seeding of student’s Aadhaar card with student’s Bank Account Number is necessary for scholarship?
Yes, it is a mandatory requirement for payment of the scholarship.
What should I do, if the mark sheets are issued by the university only at the end of entire course duration?
You can download Annexure-4 available on KSB website www.ksb.gov.in and upload it alongwith computer generated mark sheets signed by Controller of Examination /Registrar (Examination) while applying for 2nd and subsequent installment of scholarship.
Can I send computer generated mark sheets?
No. Original mark sheets of both semesters/academic years issued by the university to be scanned and uploaded.
Can I get scholarship if I am a ward of Para-military personnel or Ward of central armed forces police?
No, this scholarship is awarded to the wards and widows of Ex-servicemen who have served in Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast guards.
Can a selected student change the course and college?
Yes. The selected students are allowed to change their course in first year only if the changed course is included in the Approved List of Courses for PMSS. For a change of course in 2nd or subsequent year, kindly refer Para 13 (a) to (d) of Important Instructions for PMSS uploaded on KSB website www.ksb.gov.in under link PMSS – New Application – How to Apply for Scholarship.
If a student has already availed PMSS in the past, can he again apply for PMSS?
No. PMSS is allowed for one course only.
