Details
Benefits
- Course Fee - ₹20,000/- per annum subject to actuals whichever is less (for both Hosteller & Day Scholar).
- Monthly Maintenance Allowance (for 10 months in an academic year) - ₹1,000/- for Hosteller; ₹ 500/- for Day Scholar.
- Scholarship for listed institutes - Full course fee is reimbursed for the listed Institutes.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a student.
- The applicant must belong to a Minority Community.
- The applicant must be pursuing a technical or professional course at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- The applicant must have secured not less than 50% marks (or equivalent grade) in the previous final examination.
- The annual income of parents/guardians of the applicant (from all sources): Less than or equal to ₹2.5 Lakhs per Annum.
Exclusions
- If a student violates school discipline or any other terms and conditions of the scholarship, the scholarship may be suspended or canceled.
- The student availing any other scholarship out of all the available Scholarships of the Central Government meant for SC/ST/OBC/minority.
- If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statement, his/her scholarship will be canceled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered by the concerned State/UT Govt.
- The student obtaining benefits under this scheme shall not be allowed to avail of benefits under any other scheme for this purpose.
- Scholarships will not be given to more than two students from a family.

Documents Required
- Student’s Photo.
- Verification Form by the Institution.
- Income Certificate, issued from a Competent Authority in the State/UT Govts is required in respect of parent/guardian of the student.
- Self-Certified Community Certificate (if the applicant is greater than or equal to 18 years) or Community Certificate certified by parent/guardian.
- Self-attested Mark Sheet of the last qualifying exam.
- Fee Receipt of ‘Current Course Year’.
- Bank Details (Account No., IFSC Code) of the applicant or Bank Details of the Parent/Guardian. (if the student does not have his/her own bank account).
- Residential/Domicile Certificate.
- Bonafide Student Certificate” from the institute (if the institute is located in a State/UT different from domicile State/UT)
- Aadhaar Number (or alternative identification documents)
- Aadhaar Enrolment ID slip (if enrolled for Aadhaar)
- A copy of her or his request made for Aadhaar enrolment.
- Passport
- Ration Card
- Bank passbook with photograph
- Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card issued by the Income Tax Department
- Certificate of identity having photo of such student issued by a Headmaster or Principal of School under official seal of the school
- Driving license issued by the Licensing Authority under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988)
- Any other documents specified by the State Government or Union territory Administration.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if there are more than one student with equal marks for the last available slot?
In such cases, preference will be given to the student with lower family income.
Will I be eligible for the scholarship if I fail to get promoted to the next semester?
No. The scholarship will be terminated in that case.
Is there a percentage of slots reserved for girl students?
Yes, 30% of the total slots are reserved for girl students.
Can I apply offline for the scholarship?
No. You need to visit https://scholarships.gov.in/ to apply.
Is there any application fee?
No. The entire application process is completely free of cost.
Will the scholarship also be paid for the period of internship / housemanship in the M.B.B.S. course?
No. The scholarship won’t be provided for that period.
By when shall the scholarship become payable?
The scholarship will become payable after the student has secured admission and has started attending the classes.
Is there a validity to the scholarship?
The scholarship will be provided till the complete duration of the course.
What would be the mode of payment of the scholarship?
The payment of the scholarship will be through DBT.
Do I need to complete the application in one sitting?
No. You can save the application as draft and continue at a later time before the deadline.
How do I track the status of my application?
You can check the same anytime by visiting the Applicant Dashboard and clicking “Track Status” in the left pane.
What should be the type and size of the documents to be uploaded?
The format should be.pdf or .jpeg. The size of each document should not be greater than 200 kb.
In what cases a Bonafide Certificate from the institute is needed?
It is needed if the institute is located in a State/UT different from domicile State/UT of the applicant.
How do I know if a field in the application form is mandatory?
The mandatory fields have a red asterisk (*) mark at the end.
